Children And Diabetes

Children And DiabetesDiabetes is a well-known problem as among adults, so among children. Here we are going to present you some information considering kids’ diabetes (type two).

At first we’ll define this disease. So diabetes type two is an illness for the whole life. It appears in cases when pancreas is not able to produce normal amount of insulin. But sometimes our tissues stop adopting insulin in a proper way. So, what is insulin? It’s a hormone due to which the cells of our organism adopt sugar (exactly we speak about glucose that gives us energy). Moreover it takes part in the process of storing additional sugar in the body’s muscles and other parts.

So, when there is no insulin, glucose can not be adopted and does not reach its target. And sugar remains in blood. For this reason patients get high levels of sugar in their blood. So the diagnosis “diabetes” people receive when the sugar’s level is very high for long periods.

The large amount of sugar is not the only problem for people suffering from diabetes, because it also influences other organs like heart, vision, your vessels, liver and so on. Moreover a person with too much sugar in blood often belongs to various groups of risk.

Once, the diabetes 2 was fairly considered a disease that could affect only grown-ups. As for the diabetes 1 – it was considered a childish illness. But nowadays both these types are characteristic for all age categories.

It is terrible to understand that your kid may be ill with any form of diabetes, but such a diagnosis doesn’t mean a verdict. If following all the prescriptions it’s possible to live a normal life without serious complications.

It’s also interesting to know the reasons of diabetes 2. Unfortunately, exact reasons are still unknown. But many doctors believe that first of all to the group of risk belong children that suffer from obesity, also those who do not get enough physical activity and of course we should take into account heredity.

Additional reason is (when we mean teenagers) that there are a great number of hormones produced in the organism and sometimes they may also prevent normal adoption of insulin. This situation is known under the name “insulin resistance”. It creates diabetes.

As for the symptoms they are following (though in some cases it’s impossible to discover any signs):

  • First of all kids with diabetes begin to urinate oftener than usually.
  • They also want to drink almost all the time.
  • Weight loss may also follow the development of diabetes.
